Chanel- Paradoxal (Limited Edition)

Good morning or good night. It’s 1 am and I just wanted to get this post up so people who are contemplating purchasing this polish can make a more informed decision. Sorry for the pic spam, but hey, I tried to capture this polish from every angle. Lo and behold Chanel Paradoxal in all its glory. Do not confuse Paradoxal with Paradoxical, or Paradoxel, it’s Paradoxal. Weird spelling I know, my spell check is spazzing out. Anyway, this little bottle of 13mL was $25.24 to be exact. GEEZ LOUISE, who in their right mind would pay that much for a polish. *raises hand very slowly* This is the most I have ever spent on a polish and I do not intend to spend this much on a polish on a regular basis. I would be so broke it would be so very sad. Anyway, this is a really gorgeous and unique color. A dusty greyed out purple, with a purple shimmer. Here, let me try to explain this a little better, you know taupe polishes, how they have that slight purple-esque feature to them? But, you know that it’s really taupe with a tinge of purple in it? This is Purple with a tinge of grey in it, if that makes any sense (made sense in my head, though that’s not saying much, lol). So it has that very dusty feature to it, but with a very pretty purple shimmer. A dusty greyed out purple with a fabulous purple shimmer. In regular room lighting, this polish just looks like a muted purple, my brother described it as, “the purple gobstopper.” If you eat gobstopper candies this is sort of that color but a little muted. Application was done with two coats, and the formula was decent. Not too runny not too thick. Although for a 25 dollar price tag I would expect a little gnome/ elf to come with it too to help with application purposes. I think it’s a really unique color, one that I haven’t seen before, and it’s Chanel, so the lofty price tag is a given. Each bottle is labeled with a number so you can be excited you got bottle number XXXX. It’s really pretty and I’m glad I got it, but I’m still crying over the 25 dollar price tag. I could have gotten 10 bottles of Color Club polishes for that price. =[ Anyway, no use crying over spilt milk. I can't wait to rock this "autumn-y" color come autumn. Although the 70 degree weather in July is really strange.. it's not autumn yet. I hope this helps you decide if you "need" Paradoxal yet.

Gosh this is a nice colour! But for $40-ish here in Australia, I would not buy it. I'll just admire it from a distance…it's so unique and gorgeous though… :( Colour Club is only $2.50 USD?!?!? GAH!!! Why Australia doesn't have brands like those, I will never understand. They'd make so much monies!

  2. MegHarmeyer says:

Oh, I *need* it, but the hubs would murderize me if I got it. LOL That color is all kinds of amazing!! Your pics are the first that have made me say OMG I NEED THAT COLOR!! Maybe the birthday fairies will take note. :)

  3. Judy says:

Your photos of this are GREAT! I swatched this but I can't WAIT to wear it! I love it!

  4. Jen says:

The more I see this the more I think – so what? What's the big deal? Sure it's nice but if it didn't have that name on it then there wouldn't be the fuss. Not a chance.

You know, I'm with you. I've worn it for a few days now, and I'm pretty torn about it. At times I love it and at times I think, "it's just a purple" But, it's actually pretty unique. You just have to see it in person. =] But, the price tag is quite hefty which is a HUGE negative in my book.

  5. Nat says:

it is not a weird spelling!!! It's called "French"

    • nailstah says:

well, considering I'm not French, nor have I ever studied it, I had no idea. I guess I was just used to seeing it spelled paradox"i"cal because that's how it's spelled in the states.

  6. Jackie S. says:

I have this polish and I am in love, I'm wearing it now, its great! Mine was $24.90, just 10 cents shy of my $25 bottle limit :)

  7. Brenda says:

    Annie,

Thanks for swatching this. It's a GORGEOUS color. Unfortunately, because of the price tag on this, I won't be purchasing it anytime soon (unless I win the lottery!! LOL)

On another note, I found Color Club's Revvvolution at Bed, Bath and Beyond. I'm thrilled to pieces! YAY!!!

    • nailstah says:

No problem Brenda!!! It is a gorgeous color, the price tag on it is, a bit outlandish. OOOO Glad you found Revvvolution, that color is SO awesome.

I have this fabulous polish and given that I wear Chanel polish almost exclusively, I have to say Paradoxal is my new favorite and I'm going to get another bottle soon! They recently had Particuliare and I expected to love that and did not. So I was hesitant with this one, but WOW it is gorgeous. And I have to say it looks different in different lights. Thanks for the review, I think I'm going to link you in my blog so my readers can see this and how great it looks in your lovely photos. On a side note, my daughter wore OPI Absolutely Alice for awhile and I just loved that…especially on her 11 year old toes.

    • nailstah says:

Hi Shannon!! I love Paradoxal. I was on the fence with it for a while, but I have to say I love it now. Although dishing out the 25 bucks was not love, the color is totally awesome. I have to nudge you to try new brands!!! As awesome as Chanel is there are some brands I would definitely choose over Chanel ;) Not to mention with a way cheaper price tag. HAHA Thank you so much for the link love and I can't wait to read you blog!!! Oh btw, OPI Absolutely Alice is SO amazing, just the after glitter cleanup is a nightmare. =]
